Firefox
Firefox 3 in Beta 5 is really stable and fast. It feels more responsive and can handle more tabs before you feel any slowdown. Currently, there’s lack of themes and extensions compatible with beta versions but this is only temporary until full version is released.
Extensions
You can install some useful extension directly from Ubuntu application repository. I’ve installed Ubufox, Firebug and Flashblock. Ubufox is set of modifications which make Firefox work closer with Ubuntu, Firebug makes developer lives easier and Flashblock prevents Flash content from loading until you click on it.
Themes
Themes are really scarce right now but i managed to find some. Littlefox is the one I’m using now because it’s compact and clear, leaves more space for browsing. From the same guy there is also walnut theme, larger and nicer – i’m using it in Thunderbird. You can find some more themes at his home site. I hope to see more from him.
Thunderbird
I tried to use other mail clients but only Thunderbird organizes folders in a way i want. I want my home and business folders clearly separated: Inbox, Sent mail, Draft, Trash… everything. Most other mail clients have only one Inbox folder, you can separate mail with message rules but that’s only for incoming mail. Thunderbird will also separate files on disk by account which makes my life easier.
To minimize Thunderbird to tray, you can useĀ FireTray
